Does girl-child education have any impact in the Nigerian society or any other society for that matter? Of course, girl- child education has been identified as the backbone of the advanced societies of the world.  It is a critical issue that should not be treated with laxity. Its impact in the society is numerous and includes; improving the individual, causing her to be productive and not a burden to the society; it improves the economy of the society through various means such as environmental sustainability; lowers illiteracy rate which also leads to lower poverty rate.
 

Proprietress tasks parents on family planning

The proprietress, Laurel Schools, Jakande Estate, Lagos, Mrs. Christiannah Onawole, has advised parents to have the number of children they can cater for.
 
She said that family planning would ensure that each member of the family gets the maximum support possible to succeed.
 
Onawole said this on Saturday during the 9th Biennial Inter House Sports event of the school in Lagos.
While urging government not to see schools as cash cows, Onawole added that sporting activities enabled pupils to be mentally alert and receptive to learning.
 

Zamfara governor’s daughter to check child marriage

The daughter of the Zamfara state governor, Hajiya Zainab Yari, has drawn up an education programme towards checking forceful marriage through her Non-Governmental Organization, “Himma Community Health Circle Initiative (H. Coheic).
 
This was disclosed by the NGO’s Public Relations Officer, Eunice Bosua at a press conference in Gusau on Saturday.
