Numerous countries have committed themselves to promoting the sexual and reproductive health of women and girls by ratifying international human rights treaties. These include the Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Abia State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (ASPHDA) says it is committed toward improved maternal and child health through the provision of healthcare interventions.
The Executive Secretary of the agency, Dr Chinagozi Adindu, said this in an interview with newsmen in Umuahia yesterday.
Adindu said the agency had adopted a proactive strategy to achieve its set objective.
He said the agency had commenced a maternal, newborn and child health week as well as a modified integrated medical outreach.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has dared other Governors to reveal the identities of contractors handling projects in their various States.
Governor Wike threw the challenge during the commissioning of the Rumuekini-Aluu road in Obio-Akpor and Ikwerre Local government areas of the state.
He pledged to continue to patronize local contractors who deliver quality road projects for the Rivers State government.
Revealing the names of contractors handling road projects in Rivers State, Wike said governors give contracts to family members rather than prioritize quality.

Wife of the Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu has cautioned citizens, especially pregnant women, nursing mothers and teenagers against patronizing quacks for their health care needs.
Speaking on Friday at the flag-off of 2020 Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCAH) Week in Lagos which held at the Ejigbo Local Council Development Area Secretariat, Sanwo-Olu, particularly frowned at the rate at which pregnant women patronized quacks who claimed to be traditional birth attendants for their ante-natal and post-natal care needs.
