Anaemia affects 50 percent of pregnant women in Nigeria - Prof. Ojengbede

About 50 percent of pregnant women across the country are currently suffering from anaemia due to shortage and lack of good food suitable for their health during pregnancy, a professor of Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Oladosu Ojengbede has said.
 
This shortage of food with nutrients and vitamins due to high level of poverty and economic hardship currently biting hard on the country, has also resulted in the alarming rate of maternal mortality and morbidity compared to other countries of the world.

The Nigerian Urban Reproductive Health Initiative (NURHI) Programme Officer, Strategic Behaviour Change, Communication, Advocacy, Demand and Generation in Oyo State, Mr Tunji Samuel on Thursday said NURHI has reduced myths and conceptions about family planning among women in the State.
 
Mr Samuel stated this in Ibadan in a chat with newsmen on NURHI’s success at the end of the five-day visibility/knowledge parade/rally on family planning embarked upon by NURHI in additional 5 local government areas of the state.

Oyo State team leader of the Nigerian Urban Reproductive Health Initiative(NURHI), Mrs Stella Akinso on Thursday reinstated that family planning was “not to discourage child bearing” but to sensitize women about family planning methods.
 
The NURHI team leader stated this while speaking at the flag off of the visibility study on family planning in Lagelu local government area of Oyo State.
 

Family planning: NURHI to sensitize over 1million women in Oyo state – Akinso

Team leader of the Nigerian Urban Reproductive Health Initiative (NURHI) Mrs Stella Akinso has hinted that the body is to sensitise over 1 million women in Oyo State on the need to embrace available family planning methods.
 
Mrs Akinso stated this in Moniya, Akinyele Local Government Area of the state during the flag off of the phase 2 of NUHRI family planning visibility parade and campaign  billed to cover 15 local government areas in the state
 

NURHI RENOVATES FAMILY PLANNING CLINICS IN LAGOS

In its bid to improving the quality of family planning services in Lagos State, the Nigerian Urban Reproductive Health Initiative (NURHI) recently renovated and commissioned Family Planning Clinics in Primary Health Care Centres (PHCs) in Agege, Oshodi-Isolo, and Alimosho Local Government Areas.

 

Others were selected from PHCs in Ejigbo, Isolo, Ikosi-Isheri, Aboyi-Ketu, Agbado-Okeodo, and Egbe-Idimu Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).
