The Zamfara Government on Monday said it was partnering with some international organisations for the improvement of primary healthcare delivery in the state.

Alhaji Yusuf Mafara, Executive Secretary, Zamfara Primary Health Care Development Agency (PHCDA), told newsmen in Gusau that the organisations included UNICEF, World Health Organisation and Save the Children International.

Others were the Partnership for Reviving Routine Immunization in Northern Nigeria (PRRINN) and Maternal and New-Born Child Health (MNCH).

He said that Zamfara PHCDA was established recently by the state government to provide effective primary health care services, especially in rural communities.

“The state government, through the Agency, plans to provide standard and functional hospitals across the 147 political wards across the state.

“We are also planning to investigate and find lasting solution to the problem of inadequate health personnel in our hospitals, particularly in the rural areas.

“We’re also planning to provide modern health equipment and facilities in the hospitals to ensure effective healthcare delivery at the primary level,” the Zamfara PHCDA scribe said.
