Kaduna test runs child spacing injection in LGs

Kaduna State Government has expressed satisfaction over the progress been recorded in child spacing across the state as it announced plans to test run a new injection in four local government areas of the state.
 
According to the state government, the administering is a pilot project which if successful will be expanded to other local government areas of the state.
 
The State Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Paul Manya Dogo stated this at a one day training workshop organized by Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria in collaboration with Kaduna State Ministry of Health held in the state.
 
The programme was sponsored by the United Nations Population Fund with a view to train health workers on how to administer newly introduced family planning injection called Sayana Press.

Dr Paul Dogo attributed the success of the child spacing to the support and contribution of of all stakeholders such as traditional and religious leaders for creating awareness to parents to understand the importance of child spacing for the health benefits of mother and child.

He added that child spacing reduced maternal and child mortality to about four percent.
