Oyo Assembly proposes bill on family planning

A Bill for a Law to provide for the Regulation of Family Planning, Reproductive Health and Safe Maternity Services on Tuesday scaled the first reading at the Oyo State House of Assembly.
 
The  Chairman, House Committee on Health, Mr Silas Okunlola, read the bill which was co-sponsored by eight lawmakers.
 
The lawmakers were; Mr Silas Okunlola ( Iwajowa), Mr Segun Ajanaku ( Ibadan South West 2 ), Mr Abiden Wahab (Oluyole) and Mr Bolanle Agbaje (Ibadan North 1).

In few months time, WHO will be celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Declaration of Alma-Ata on Primary Health Care. In one of its reports on Primary Health Care, WHO explained that though, the global health context has changed remarkably over seven decades, the values that lie at the core of the WHO constitution and those that informed the Alma-Ata Declaration have been tested and remain true.
 

NPC Tasks Religious, Traditional Leaders on Family Planning

Federal Commissioner, National Population Commission (NPC), Alhaji Aminu Ahmad, Thursday called on religious and traditional leaders in Sokoto State to sensitise the people on the need to embrace family planning and child spacing.

 

 

Speaking during an interview with journalists in Sokoto, Ahmad said the call became necessary so as to build a healthy and prosperous society.

 

 

DevComs trains health reporters, producers on Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Advocacy

To improve accuracy and facilitate effective reportage of Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (RMNCAH) issues in the media space, DevComs organized a training on RMNCH Advocacy for media professionals in Lagos.
 
The participants made up of core group of news reporters, producer, editor from print, radio and television were taken through basic terminologies in RMNCH, religious and traditional factors related to RMNCH in Nigeria, Sustainable Development Goals, and a number of policies and laws related with RMNCH in Nigeria.
