Advocacy Field Trip to Primary Health Care Center, Maikunkele

Media Forum in Niger State instituted by the Development Communications Network and The Challenge Initiative (TCI) team  arrived Maikunkele Primary Health Care in Bosso Local Government Area of the state on the 19th of May, 2020. The team was welcomed by the Health workers at the facility and Mrs Hadiza Hassan was introduced to the team as she was to guard the team through their visit.

 

Mrs. Hadiza Who happens to be the Coordinator of Family planning on Bosso local government and also the uncharged of the Maikunkele primary health care facility, told the team about the facility and listed some of the services they render (child delivery, child-birth spacing, ANC, Immunization). She also said the hospital gets about 15 clients in a day and the population is much more on Wednesdays. Mrs. Hadiza told the team that despite the presence of COVID-19, clients still come to the facility for Family Planning as the facility runs a 24hours service. Mrs Hadiza introduced Mr. David Monbai to the team as the 2nd in charge of the facility.

Mr. David told the team that women who come to the facility for Planning planning must first seek the approval of her husband, her health background has to be checked to help in knowing which method of Family Planning will be best for her, she will also be advised to practice good hygiene. He stated that the challenges is that sometimes most men don’t allow their wives come for family Planing because he is a male provider. Also patients come from neighboring village to access the family planning facility.
