Maternal Figures offers support to journalists covering maternal health in Nigeria
Maternal Figures offers support to journalists covering maternal health in Nigeria in a number of ways. Supported by the Brown Institute for Media Innovation and Code for Africa, we offer Solutions Journalism Fellowships to journalists looking to cover a maternal health story or introduce solutions journalism to their newsrooms. You may apply as a reporter or as an editor.
Maternal Figures first cohort of fellows included Chiamaka Okafor, a reporter for Premium Times whose story focused on Nigeria’s National Malaria programme and its impact on maternal health, and Kelechukwu Iruoma, a freelance journalist who produced a story for The Cable about Pathfinder’s Total Market Approach to reducing maternal mortality in Cross River. Our second cohort of fellows are reporting about maternal health programmes in states like Sokoto, Benue and Cross River.
Do you have a maternal health story you’d like to report on? Apply by February 26th, 2021 to be considered for this round of fellowships.
