MTN Foundation Modernizes Four Maternal Wards in Cross River State with Ultra-modern Facilities
Ceaseless accolades have continued to trail the newly-renovated and equipped maternal wards donated to four hospitals in Cross River State by MTN Foundation as part of efforts aimed at complementing the national objective of reducing maternal and infant mortality in Nigeria.
Pregnant women and mothers were particularly excited and grateful for this gesture because of the potential for reduction of high maternal mortality rates recorded nationally.
The four hospitals were renovated, equipped and commissioned as part of MTN Foundation Maternal Ward Support Project to Cross River State. These hospitals; General Hospital, Calabar, General Hospital, Ugep, General Hospital, Ogoja and General Hospital, Obanliku, were equipped with ultra-modern executive beds, incubators, bedside lockers, over-bed tables, drip stands among other facilities, and renovated to create a beautiful ambience for new and expectant mothers.
Commissioning the new wards, the Executive Governor of the State, His Excellency, Prof. Ben Ayade, represented by the Honorable Commissioner for Health, Cross River State, Dr. Mrs. Inyang Asibong, in his goodwill message thanked MTN Foundation for the wonderful gesture of kindness shown to citizens of the state and for installing world class equipment in the newly renovated maternal wards. “Over the years, MTN Foundation has proven to be a worthy partner and friend to citizens of Cross River State. We are grateful for this wonderful gift and display of humanitarian excellence.”
Executive Secretary, MTN Foundation, Nonny Ugboma while thanking the state government of Cross River for the opportunity to contribute immensely to the maternal health of women and babies in the state, admonished that the facilities be well-taken care of as Cross River is the only state to benefit from the initiative in the South-South.
