NGO ORGANISED MEDIA ROUNDTABLE FOR JOURNALIST ON CHILD BIRTH SPACING IN KANO STATE

Media roundtable instituted by Development communications network (DEVCOMS) in collaboration with The challenge initiatives (TCI) and kano state government organised a media roundtable for journalist in kano state.

The Director public Kano state health Ministry of health Dr Imam wada Bello said the pandemic has affected alot of areas, the economy,causes distraction of health services and many more.

Dr imam wada Bello said the lockdown has also affected the way routine services were being conducted especially family planning,immunization and many health services.
“You can imagine because of the lockdown many people were even fighting of how to get food,many are not much concerned on how to accessed FP commodities because of the distruction of services”

Covid 19 pandemic has caused a lot of abnormalities in the day to day activities of the poeple globally.
One of the effects of the pandamic was the lockdown directives in Nigeria and parts of the world,which geared towards protecting self from being infected with covid 19.
Speaking while presenting a paper themed “lockdown , collateral birth and impact on population, during a roundtable meeting organised by Kano state government in collaboration with the challenge initiative,through DEVCOMS, the Director public Kano state health Ministry of health Dr Imam wada Bello said the pandemic has affected alot of areas, the economy,causes distraction of health services and many more.

“Many husband’s have been lockdown for sometime in their homes which brings more intimacy interms of marital affairs with their families,the fear is that alot of unplanned pregnancies may occur during the lockdown period”
Dr Imam wada Bello said with the regards to directives issued by Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for hospitals to reopens the health services,must of the health activities have been restored and health workers are now more prepared to face the challenge ahead.
The director added that the state government has Recieved FP commodities from the federal government and distribution have since commence to health facilities in state aimed at ensuring that the commodities are much available in the state.

In her remark the FP coordinator Kano state Ministry of health Sa’a Nata’ala said the ministry was working asidiously in training and retraining of FP service providers with the aim of ensuring that the stated goals were Achieved.
Nata’al maintained that with the arrival of FP commodities from the federal government distribution had began to health care centers in Kano.

She warned health providers from advising clients to buy contraceptives like,inflanol, injectables,and pills from outside pharmacy,saying all FP commodities were being provided by givernment free,to the public.
“in no circumstances should a client buys any commodities from pharmacy or chemist”
Earlier the coordinator of TCI in Kano Dr yusif Abdullahi sufi said the media advocacy on Family planning in Kano was yielding positive results.
