Over 98,000 Children Immunised Against Polio

More than 98,000 children in Birniwa and Kirikasamma Local Government Councils of Jigawa, were immunised against polio disease.
 
The Primary Healthcare Managers (PHM) of the two local governments, Malam Adamu Mohammed and Alhaji Ibrahim Bura, disclosed this in Jigawa.
 
They said the children were administered Oral Polio Vaccines (OPV) and antigens against other child killer diseases in the concluded March round of immunisation exercise.
 
Malam Adamu Muhammad, the Birniwa PHM, disclosed that over 42,000 children were immunised against polio in the area.
 
“The National Primary Health Care Agency supplied adequate doses of vaccines, which facilitated smooth conduct of the exercise.
 
“The council also deployed about 300 health workers for successful execution of the exercise in the area,’’ Muhammad said.
 
Muhammad said that the state government was commitment to the total eradication of the disease as well as enhancing healthcare delivery at the grassroots.
 
Alhaji Ibrahim Bura, the Kirikasamma PHM, said that over 56,000 children were immunised against poliomyelitis in the area.
 
Bura said that the figure exceeded the target child population.
