Kaduna test runs child spacing injection in LGs

Kaduna State Government has expressed satisfaction over the progress been recorded in child spacing across the state as it announced plans to test run a new injection in four local government areas of the state.
 
According to the state government, the administering is a pilot project which if successful will be expanded to other local government areas of the state.

But I am cautious because the forces   government will confront, even if the willpower is there, to win this battle are monstrous. Some of these forces are within government circles. But win we must because there is nothing good about child marriage. In fact, child marriage is paedophilia dressed in legitimate robes.

 

Govt to reduce maternal mortality

Oyo State Government on Friday said it would continue to give priority to child healthcare toward reducing maternal mortality in the state.

 

Dr Abdul-Azeez Adeduntan, the Commissioner for Health, told newsmen in Ibadan at a news conference to herald the 2016 Maternal, Newborn and Child Health week (MNCHW).

 

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the bi-annual weeklong event will commence from Dec. 12 to Dec. 16 across the 33 local government areas of the state.

 

Group to Conduct House-to-House Education on Maternal, Child Health in Oworonsoki

A youth group in Lagos, Carrington Youth Fellowship Initiative’s Health Team has decided to tackle the spate of maternal and child mortality in Nigeria by engaging and educating the members of Oworonsoki community on better maternal and child health. The group plans to organise a three-day house-to-house education visit to the members of the community especially the slum areas of the town, to talk to pregnant women and people who take care of women under the age of five years, they also plan to share educational resources and use SMS to reinforce the message.

Adamawa flags off maternal newborn, child health social protection scheme

The Maternal Newborn and Child Health Social Protection Scheme has taken off in Adamawa State.
 
The programme, supported by the European Union and UNICEF, was flagged off on Monday by wife of the state governor, Maryam Bindow.
 
At the ceremony in Malabu village of Fufore Local Government Area, Mrs. Bindow urged mothers, who are the major beneficiaries, and health workers involved in the scheme to give the intervention their full support.

Lazarus Moses, 40, and a father of three lost his wife during childbirth at a government hospital in Abuja.

 

 

His late wife, Sarah, was a nurse at the hospital where she died. She couldn’t get the hospital to provide care for her at the time she needed it the most.

 

 

When Daily Trust visited Moses’ residence at Lugbe, Abuja, grief was written all over him.

 

 

“She bled to death after giving birth. My wife is dead. I don’t know how to explain to my children that their mother is gone,” he said.

 

Saraki’s Wife Seeks More Training For Health Workers

The wife of Nigeria’s Senate President, Mrs Toyin Saraki, says the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations cannot be secured if there is no investment in the capacity of health workers.

 

 

Speaking at a National Health Workers’ Training in Abuja on Monday, Mrs Saraki, who is also the president of the Wellbeing Foundation, highlighted that health workers should be given priority because of the role they play in preventing maternal and child mortality.
