Most women don’t regret after having abortion – Study

A new research has found that most women feel ‘relieved’ and don’t ‘regret’ their decision after having an abortion.
The study, which was described by a CNN report as one of the largest to date on the topic, was published Sunday in the journal Social Science & Medicine.
Also, about 25 per cent of all pregnancies ended in an induced abortion, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Researchers say there has been an assumption that women will regret having an abortion.

World Contraception Day: Experts Call For Increased Awareness To Curb Unsafe Abortion

As Nigeria joins the rest of the world to observe the World Contraception Day, experts have called for urgent action on unwanted and underage pregnancies to check the rising rate of unsafe abortion in the country.
They​ gave the warning in a statement jointly issued on Wednesday.
The Programme Director of Development Communications Network (Devcoms), Akin Jimoh, noted that the majority of young people in Nigeria are not empowered with quality information to make informed decisions about their reproductive health.

The World Health Organisation observes that out of more than 56 million cases of abortions that take place globally each year, almost half of the cases are done through unsafe procedures.
 
It notes further that between 2010 and 2014, there were 55.7 million abortion cases every year and out of these, 17.1 million cases were unsafe.
