Govt partners NGOs to tackle family planning barriers

The Nasarawa State Government is collaborating with two NGOs to tackle Family Planning (FP) barriers and reduce maternal mortality in the state.
The NGOs are Pathfinder International Nigeria (PIN) and Partnership for Advocacy in Child and Family Health (PACFaH).
 
A PACFaH Facilitator, Mrs Aanu Rotimi, said at a three-day workshop held on Thursday in Akwanga, that the major strategy to reduce this mortality incidence was to address FP barriers.
 

Muslim women call for increase in Nigeria’s health budget

The Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria, FOMWAN, has called for an immediate increase in the national health budget.

 
The association, a member of the Partnership for Advocacy in Child and Family Health (PACFaH) project, said that said the budget should not only be increased but should be released on time and used judiciously.

Have only children you can train, Ebonyi govt counsels parents

EBONYI State government, yesterday, called on parents to give birth to the number of children they can train as family planning was the only way out of the current recession facing the country.
 
 
It further described family planning as one of the factors that can aid reduction in the maternal mortality in the state.
 
 
Commissioner for Health, Dr. Daniel Umezuruike, disclosed this in Abakaliki while inaugurating the state’s family planning advocacy working group.

Stakeholders representing the various strata of the society have called for improved efforts towards the adoption and funding of family planning in the country.
 
Speaking separately, the stakeholders which comprise community and religious leaders, youth leaders, governmental and non-governmental organizations,  among others said there was need for change methods of advocacy in order to achieve results.

Development Communications Network, DEVCOMS, in collaboration with Nigerian Urban Rural Health Initiative, NURHI, organized a 2-day training for social media influencers/bloggers on Family Planning Projection in Nigeria.
 
Held in Lagos, Ibadan and Kaduna, the focus of the training was designed to increase the awareness and need to adopt family planning methods in the reduction of maternal and newborn deaths recorded in the country.
