NYSC Offers Free Healthcare Services In Katsina

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has offered free medical services to over 1,000 rural dwellers in Doro village, Bindawa Local Government Area of Katsina State under its Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD).
 
Mr John Okpo, the state NYSC Coordinator, disclosed this while monitoring the programme on Monday in the area.
 

Midwives key to rural women’s health – Mrs Saraki

Mrs Toyin Saraki, Founder and President of the Wellbeing Foundation Africa (WBFA) has advocated for training and equipping of midwives as they hold the key to health of rural women in Nigeria.
 
Speaking at the wrap up of a two weeks advocacy and sensitisation on the roles of midwives in Nigeria, Mrs Saraki said that women encounter midwives more than doctors.
 
She said that in the rural areas, a well trained and equipped midwife would educate the rural woman on many health issues that concern them.
 

Myfptori portal pushing family planning among rural families

An online portal, myfptori.com is helping young people tell their stories about contraception, family planning, sexual and reproductive health.
The portal started with a $5,000 seed grant to ambassadors of contraception to collect and share digital stories about young people’s sexual and reproductive health and rights in their home countries.

Health Development Agency Deploys 1,447 Midwives To Rural Communities

The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), has deployed 1,447 midwives to rural communities in the northern part of Nigeria for their one year mandatory Midwives Service Scheme (MSS).

 

 

At a Flag-Off Orientation and Documentation of Basic Midwives held in Kaduna on Thursday, the Acting Executive Director of the agency, Dr. Echezona Ezeanolue, who declared the induction course open, said the programme was aimed at reversing the ugly trend in the maternal and child health outcomes.
