It was a period of jubilation for the people of Jegede-Olunloyo community in Ona Ara Local Government Area of Oyo state as the community experienced a development that meet their yearning for access to affordable healthcare delivery with the commissioning of a N500m hospital that will provide functional healthcare.
 

At the Nassarawa Primary Health Centre, in Yola, capital of Adamawa State, nine-month-old, pale and thin Baby Habibat, being cuddled by her mother is suffering from malnutrition induced by acute diarrhea, which is caused by rotavirus.
 
“First she started stooling frequently, then vomiting and gradually started losing weight,” her mother Aisha summarised how her baby got to that point.
 

The Wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, on Thursday laid the foundation of a 50-bed Maternity and Child Care Centre in Daura, Katsina State, to promote child and maternal health in the area.
 
Mrs Buhari said the project was fully funded by the Aisha Buhari Foundation under the Future Assured programme.
 
She said the aim of the project was to reduce maternal and child mortality, adding, “ we would ensure that we establish a well-equipped, functional maternity centre in each of the six geo-political zones in the country.”
 

In its effort to bring healthcare awareness to the grassroots, Federation of Muslim Women's Association in Nigeria (FOMWAN), has partnered with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), and religious leaders of the Muslim community on issues of child and family health.
